Apple Vision Pro has eliminated Open Sky Environment features

Updated: April 24, 2025 10:23

Apple fans are now excited about Apple Vision Pro which is all set to launch in the US on February 2. It's been almost eight months since the company first revealed the VR Glasses at WWDC 2023. But the company has made a twist in this gadget, they have eliminated a feature of sharp-eyed X (formerly Twitter) user spotted this change on the company's official website and its introductory video, which is now a few seconds shorter than the original video that we have seen earlier.

X.com user M1 with the username @M1Astra witnessed this change in Apple's introduction YouTube video that was uploaded by the coampany 7 months ago. The duration of the original video, which was earlier 9 minutes and 11 seconds long, is now available on the Apple YouTube channel for only 9 minutes. That simply means 11 seconds of video has been trimmed by the company which shows Open Sky Environment features that were glorified to "magically replace" the wearer's ceiling with a "clear, open sky."

However, if you come to the 5:13 secs video, you'll notice the thumbnail preview from the previous video that revealed a woman lying on her bed wearing a Vision Pro headset and looking at the ceiling while viewing a blue and cloudy sky. The trimmed video now jumps to the scene of a person pulling the Vision Pro over their eyes in an airplane.

Also, Apple's website has been updated now, and the text on the site that states "[...] or magically replace your ceiling with a clear, open sky" has been replaced with " [...] or turn your room into a personal movie theatre with Cinema Environment."

The company might have removed this one feature due to the hundreds of different kinds of roofs and ceilings that would make it difficult to optimize this feature for all plans. Meanwhile, We have still no clue whether this feature has been completely stopped by Apple from visionOS 1.0, or whether it will come to the headset as a future update.
